Zlatan Ibrahimović: two chapters at AC Milan
A European club journey
Born in Malmö, Zlatan Ibrahimović built a career across several major European leagues. Before arriving at AC Milan, he had played for Ajax, Juventus, Inter and Barcelona. Milan signed him in 2010, following a difficult period in Barcelona, and he became a major attacking presence in his first Italian season with the club.
A first Milan title
Ibrahimović contributed 14 league goals as Milan won the 2010–11 Serie A title. The following campaign began with a Supercoppa win over Inter, and he finished that league season as the Italian top flight’s leading scorer. His first Milan spell thus combined a team championship with a personal scoring distinction.
Return and farewell
After spells with Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and LA Galaxy, Ibrahimović returned to Milan at the end of 2019. The club regained a Champions League place and won another Serie A title during this second spell. Milan’s home match against Hellas Verona on 4 June 2023 became his farewell to professional football.
