Thomas Müller: Bayern mainstay and World Cup winner
From academy to first team
Müller joined Bayern Munich’s academy from TSV Pähl in 2000, when he was ten. He progressed into the senior side and spent seventeen Bundesliga seasons with the club. His movement into useful spaces and ability to create chances became defining features of his attacking play.
Major titles with club and country
He helped Germany win the 2014 World Cup and Bayern win the Champions League in 2013 and 2020. In Bayern’s 2019–20 league season he supplied 21 assists, a Bundesliga record at the time. His contribution was thus measured in both goals and chances made for others.
A new chapter after Bayern
Müller finished his long Bayern spell in 2025, having won thirteen Bundesliga titles. The Bundesliga reported his move to the Vancouver Whitecaps in August of that year. It marked a rare change of club for a player identified for most of his career with one team.
