Justin Timberlake: from *NSYNC to solo records and film
A start in a vocal group
Justin Timberlake appeared on The All New Mickey Mouse Club as a young performer before joining *NSYNC. The group’s late-1990s success gave him an international audience and a platform for a solo career. His path began in ensemble pop, not with his later film roles.
Building a solo catalogue
Justified, released in 2002, established him as a solo recording artist. FutureSex/LoveSounds followed in 2006 and included SexyBack. The two albums show a shift toward a sound built around rhythm, electronic production and collaborations, rather than simply repeating the style of his former group.
Music and screen work
Timberlake later released The 20/20 Experience in 2013 and Everything I Thought It Was in 2024. Alongside those records, he acted in The Social Network and voiced a character in the Trolls films. His career therefore spans recording, live performance and screen roles, with music remaining its through-line.
