Harry Styles
English singer, songwriter and actor
From One Direction to a solo career
How he became known
Harry Styles came to public attention in 2010 through the British television competition The X Factor. He joined four other contestants to form One Direction, a group whose recordings and tours brought him an international audience. His career did not end with the band: he later developed a separate catalogue under his own name.
Records and recognition
His self-titled debut album arrived in 2017, with Sign of the Times as his first solo single. He followed it with Fine Line in 2019 and Harry’s House in 2022. The latter included As It Was and won Album of the Year at the 2023 Grammy Awards. These releases mark the move from a group vocalist to a solo artist with a distinct discography.
Work on screen
Styles has also acted in feature films. His screen credits include Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk (2017) and Don’t Worry Darling (2022). The music and film work explain why he appears in both pop-culture and cinema coverage.
