Brie Larson: independent drama, blockbuster film and television
Early screen work
Brie Larson worked in television and supporting film roles before becoming known for leading performances. Her early credits include the series United States of Tara and films such as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and 21 Jump Street. Those parts preceded a shift toward more demanding dramatic roles.
Drama and a wider audience
She starred in Short Term 12 (2013) and then played a mother held captive with her son in Room (2015). The latter performance brought major awards recognition. Larson subsequently moved into large-scale franchise filmmaking as Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel (2019) and later Marvel films.
Beyond feature acting
Larson directed Unicorn Store (2017) and later worked as both performer and executive producer on Lessons in Chemistry, released in 2023. In that series she plays Elizabeth Zott, a scientist who becomes a television cooking-show host. Her career therefore spans independent film, franchises, directing and television production.
