Ariana Grande: from Broadway and television to pop albums
Stage and television beginnings
Grande performed in the Broadway musical 13 as a teenager before becoming widely known as Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon’s Victorious and later Sam & Cat. Those roles brought a young television audience to an already developing singer. Her transition to recording was therefore built on performance experience, not an overnight internet discovery.
Establishing a recording career
Her debut album Yours Truly arrived in 2013, followed by My Everything and Dangerous Woman. The sequence moved her from a television-associated performer into a major pop recording artist. She continued with Sweetener and Thank U, Next, projects that placed her voice and songwriting collaborations at the center of mainstream pop.
Later music and a return to musical theater on screen
Grande continued releasing albums, including Positions and Eternal Sunshine, while also taking on the role of Glinda in the film adaptation of Wicked. The Recording Academy recognizes her work across pop categories, including a Grammy for Sweetener. Her later screen role reconnects her music career with the theatrical roots of her adolescence.
